Indications:
Used to treat moderate to severe bacterial infections, including:

Mechanism of Action:
Ceftriaxone inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), which leads to bacterial cell lysis and death.
Dosage and Administration:

Adults: 1–2 g once daily, or divided into two doses (every 12 hours) depending on infection severity.

Children: 50–75 mg/kg/day (not exceeding 2 g/day).

Route: Intravenous (IV) injection or infusion only.

For IV injection: Reconstitute with sterile water for injection (10 mL for a 1 g vial).

For IV infusion: Reconstitute and further dilute in 50–100 mL of compatible IV fluid (e.g., 0.9% sodium chloride or 5% glucose) and infuse over 30 minutes.
Precautions:

Contraindicated in patients allergic to cephalosporins.

Use cautiously in patients with severe renal or hepatic impairment.

Do not mix or co-administer with calcium-containing solutions (especially in neonates).

Adjust dosage in severe infections or organ dysfunction.
