Medication Name: E-Mox 500mg 16 Tablets

Active Ingredient (per tablet):

• Amoxicillin 500 mg

Pharmacological Class:
Broad-spectrum β-lactam antibiotic (penicillin group)

Dosage Form:
Film-coated tablets — oral administration

Indications:

• Upper and lower respiratory tract infections (tonsillitis, pharyngitis, sinusitis, bronchitis, pneumonia)

• Ear, nose, and throat infections

• Urinary tract infections

• Skin and soft tissue infections

• Gastrointestinal infections (including Helicobacter pylori eradication when combined with other agents)

Mechanism of Action:
Amoxicillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to lysis and death of susceptible bacteria. It is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.

Dosage and Administration:

• Adults and children ≥40 kg: 500 mg every 8 hours (three times daily).

• In severe infections: up to 1 g every 8 hours may be used.

• Best taken at the start of a meal with water.

• Duration of therapy: usually 5–10 days, depending on infection type.

Side Effects:

• Gastrointestinal: nausea, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort

• Allergic reactions: rash, pruritus, anaphylaxis (rare)

• Rare: superinfection or elevated liver enzymes

Precautions:

• Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to penicillins.

• Use with caution in renal impairment (dose adjustment may be required).

• Discontinue immediately if allergic reaction occurs.

Store below 25°C, protected from moisture and light.
